Catherine M. Rogers

A long and winding road...
I've been a professional artist since 1979 and an art therapist since 1990! As a registered board certified art therapist (ATR-BC) with the American Art Therapy Credentials Board, a credentialed international member of the American Art Therapy Association and an authorized art therapist in Sweden, I've met the highest standards of practice in the art therapy profession in the U.S. and Sweden. I've been an professional visual artist since 1979 with numerous solo and group exhibitions in the U.S. and Europe. My art centers on deeply personal and symbolic imagery exploring spirituality, theology and philosophy. Please visit the gallery on this site. My family roots are in Cordova, Tennessee but I grew up in the town of Needham, Massachusetts. I've also lived in New York City, Alaska, Illinois, Wisconsin and in Sweden since 1998.
Introducing Rollo, my Västgötaspets puppy. He may contribute to our sessions in unexpected and exciting ways!
Let's heal through creativity...
with curiosity and courage!
Qualifications & Experience
In 1990 I founded the art therapy treatment services for the Children's Psychiatric Program, the Adult Day Treatment Program and the Adolescent and Geriatric Psychiatric Units of Good Samaritan Hospital Center for Mental Health in Downers Grove, Illinois.
In the greater Chicago area and in Alaska I established an art psychotherapy private practice for children and adolescents with emotional and behavioral disturbances.

In Fairbanks, Alaska I worked as an art psychotherapist for the Tanana Chiefs Conference Counseling Center. My clients were Alaskan Native children, adolescents and their families. My international work in Sweden includes leading art therapy groups for refugees from Syria, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Eritrea, Somalia and Sudan sponsored by Svenska Kyrkan (the National Church of Sweden). I currently lead a weekly art therapy group for the Hela Människan (The Whole Human) organization to promote health and well-being in addiction recovery.

Over the past 30 years I've facilitated scores of Healing Through Creativity Art Therapy Training Workshops in the U.S., Canada, Sweden, Germany and Bulgaria for the professional development of mental health clinicians, school counselors and educators. Contact me for a detailed list.
